Amongst those fortresses, Kumbalgarh with 36-kilometer long wall and towers is the master piece of the monuments and landmarks in Rajasthan. Kumbalgarh has a connection with an ancient citadel dating back to the 2nd century AD which belonged to the Maurya kingdom. The purpose of Kumbhalgarh was to define the boundaries between Mewar and Marwar region which became the site of refuge for Mewar rulers.

Located among the Aravalli mountain range, Kumbhalgarh is considered as the one of the best location for trekking and hiking. In the 15th century, this place was inaccessible as the Rana Kumbha of Mewar built a strong fort overlooking the Ajmer and Marwar region. The surprising thing is the fortress was built at a 3500 feet hill. On top of this, Kumbhalgarh is en-route to the destinations such as Udaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, and Pushkar making it a popular and attractive tourist destination.
